Just like every year at the General Meeting, the task at hand for members is to exercise the rights as stated in the Articles of Association: Members are going to vote on the annual financial statements for 2025 and are requested to discharge the Board of Directors from liability stemming from the past financial year. They are called upon to carry out their membership rights and may do so online but are particularly invited to do so in person on site in the Kaufleutensaal (Kaufleuten hall). Attending in person is strongly recommended since there are many interesting facts to learn apart from the above-mentioned statutory duties.
The General Meeting is the best opportunity to network with other members, the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee but also with SUISA staff and other guests. Some of the presentations on the day include:
Future of copyright in an AI environment
New technologies are always a challenge for creators. 30 years ago, it was the development of the internet, today, it’s the new and previously unforeseen possibilities that generative artificial intelligence provides. The Executive Committee is going to report on how SUISA intends to make sure that authors receive the recognition and the money they deserve, in yet another revolution of how creative works are used.
The future of the SRG SSR – Susanne Wille as guest speaker
After the clear rejection of the Halbierungsinitiative (halving initiative, or initiative to halve broadcast fees), the next steps in the development of SRG SSR as a central public service media entity have become clearer. SRG SSR must save on expenditure and nevertheless produce, broadcast and disseminate attractive programmes, especially with Swiss music. We look forward to hearing about this first-hand from the Director General of the SRG SSR, Susanne Wille, in her guest presentation.
Attending the General Meeting therefore looks very promising. Together with the Board of Directors and the staff, I am therefore particularly looking forward to welcome as many of you as possible on 23 June 2026 at 3pm in the Kaufleutensaal in Zurich.
